Fraternité2020 – For more mobility in Europe! (39 characters)


Initial feedback from within the Required info group:

We also though of ‘For a pro-mobility Europe’.

Pros: It sounds nicer in English.
Cons: It does not really translate well into other languages.

What if we use pro-mobility in the English version and translate it more freely?

I agree that in other languages the translation won't have the same meaning. So the pro-mobility can be use in English, but I have a concern about how freely we can translate it? In Bulgarian I don't think the term "mobility" can be use in it direct meaning.

Hi guys,
I think we need to be very, very careful. Honestly speaking I think the proposals we have on the table is by far too complicated. Try to compare with the One seat campain. So easy to understand - could be explained in less than 15 seconds because what the name of the campaign did was that it linked to a sentiment and an opinion everybody had beforehand.

In other words: We have 15 seconds – not to explain what this is all about but to unlock the chamber of insights and sentiments our fellow citizens have already: That the EU’s democracy is for top civil servants, top politicians, top this and that – and that this is what we need to change.

(To avoid misunderstandings I have nothing against top this and that - the problem is if we ONLY have top this and that).

So, what are the headline and the slogan which in less than 15 seconds explains that we will have to start investing more on citizen-to-citizen participation and mobility? The comparison between investments in citizens and investments in European cows might be one of the keys we are looking for.

Of course there is a word for mobility and its "mobilnost", but i think you misunderstood, I just wanted to ask how freely we can translate it and after our conversation I think we all agree that we will adapt the translation as close as can be, so Bulgarian translation it's not a problem at all.
About the 'conveying' and 'enhancing", I totally agree with Markus that we need something more easy
We need to be precise and to tell the idea in the most comprehensive way, because we are going to contact people with all type of backgrounds.

I totally agree with Soren. If we want to "feed" the reader with our mission then it has to be easy to digest! The whole presentation not only the title, it has to be coherent as well.

Markus, from your list I actually quite like number 3) Mobility. Progress. Europe. Although, the word progress might be replaced by "togetherness" (maybe expresses more what we want to achieve)? Maybe the word "Europe" could be desribed as united / stronger. so: Mobility. Togetherness. United Europe. Alternatively, I also like very much no. 8 "Moving Europe", it is short, strong and accurate (and actually could have two meanings: 1) F2020 works on mobility = moving programmes promotion, 2) we are actually really moving something).

From the list I vote for "We are Europe" as it is easy to memorize and recognize it, but still, it is characteristic, and sounds good. It does not sound formal which is good as we want to speak to the citizens of Europe too, not only the organizations. This phrase is tasty and contains the essence of the proposal, as I see it. What about "for a mobility-friendly Europe" or "for a citizens-friendly Europe"?! Among the already existing proposals, I like "for a pro-mobility Europe" the most!

Hi guys,
Here in Denmark we have been discussing with anti-EU actors for many years. The lesson I have learned is very clear:

• The Yes-side: We said the right things, but it sounded wrong
• The No-side: They said the wrong things, but it sounded right

Fraternité is and should of course continue to be the name of the organization behind the initiative, but as the headline and the entry point for collecting 1.000.000 signatures? (Sorry if I misunderstood something, but this is the plan, right?)

What you wrote here is top notch:

..and this is exactly why we need to invest €20 billion every year true indeed. All we need is to make it sound right. Let’s make a “10 times better EU” This is not the right proposal, but it is just to stress my point. We need a headline that you cannot be against. Who doesn’t want a 10 times better EU? I think we should look for a teaser - something that will give Marcus & Co. access to the newspapers and get a chance to explain that a 10 times better EU costs less than what we spend on cows and pigs. (Increasing the budget for mobility and participatory democracy from 1,5% to 15% of the budget.)
