After the eight meeting the Steering Group Meeting was discontinued and a more informal "Discussion Group" via Skype was installed. Most of our work is coordinated via Email.
The final important decision of the Steering Group was the designation of the 7 people that ultimately registered F2020 with the Commission (out of the 50 or so Members on our Citizens' Committee). The 7 registrants were finally decided to be:
Luca (Copetti, Belgium)
Alessandra (Mirabile, Italy)
Miguel (Otero-Iglesias, Spain)
Markus (Gastinger, Austria)
Agnes (Darabos, Hungary)
Simona (Pronckutė, Lithuania)
Irina (Popescu, Romania)
Why were these 7 people selected? We tried to keep a fair balance across several categories: In terms of geography, new and old member states are about equally represented (4 old member states, 3 new member states). Also, in terms of when member states joined we tried to keep a balance (2 founding states, 1 country from the Southern enlargement in the 80s, 1 country from the 1995 enlargement, 2 countries from the Eastern enlargement 2004, 1 country from the enlargement of 2007). The same holds for sex (4 ladies, 3 men). Finally, in terms of age we wanted to keep a balance (3 people above 30, 4 people below 30).
These 7 registrants assume no special responsibilties or rights 'internally'. We are a Citizens' Committee of equals and the decision leading to the 7 registrants was taken on objective grounds along the above stated dimensions.
